Out of Darkness Joy is Born
15 x 9 x 5 (sans stand)
Glass
2025
Part of my study of the human psyche. Based on one of my paintings, this piece explores the deepest, darkest moments of depression.
Within the glass, you see the beginnings of depression as you sink lower into the darkness …. through the impact of repeated trauma … grappling through the effect of that trauma … then clawing your way out from the darkest point and fighting through the fog to find joy in the light.
Artist’s Note: This is a deeply personal piece as it takes you through my decades long struggle coming to terms with sexual abuse as a young child.

Dissection of the Soul

**Dissection of the Soul:**
As I explore the human psyche, I’ve come to realize that the soul is the very center of our being. My soul is me. My soul is “I.” My soul is everything.
Throughout our lives, our soul grows as we grow. We live, we learn, we experience all that life has to offer. And when our body is no longer needed, our soul moves on—continuing its journey beyond this life.
